Let me begin with this quote:

Adult playgrounds: offices, happy hour, rush hour, lunch hour...so many hours.

The playground I seek to infiltrate is the non-student world of shows: Matt W and I are planning an exhibit, war as playground, war as witness, war as cause/effect. We are working on projects simultaneously, with advice & critique, but ultimately two separate visions that will work together.

We are looking at venues. The type of venue: the adult--the bar/pub, the restaurant, the hair salon, the gallery.

Our goal is May. The end of May.
May we reap what we sow.

Head first into photo

Just a little update:

In the past month, I seem to have fallen head first into photography after a long absence. I worked with SF Camerawork's First Exposure's program--their stunning out-reach program for underserved SF youth--documenting their thirteen posters in bus shelters around San Francisco. First Exposures collaborated with 826 Valencia's writing program to produce poetry/prose with photography. The results were wonderful. The photos are in the process of being edited. When I have final copies, they will be posted.

In addition, I worked with Sara & Rich Combs to shoot the newest lookbook for their jewelry line, Gold & Citrus. Working with Katie Quinn as the stylist, we shot some fantastic photos in the Presidio in San Francisco. Those photos are also being edited and when time comes for publication: you will see them here. Sara & Rich are amazing designers, with such a keen eye for statement and subtlety, I felt it was an honor to work with them. I look forward to seeing future lines.

And as a complete side note: I think we finally are having our summer.

I've been reading Haruki Murakami.
I am late on this trend, but have arrived finally, nonetheless. And I must say, he is a magical writer. I crave the ability to structure narratives like he does: his characters often living multiple lives simultaneously and often, in "real time". Needless to say, I am fascinated by his poetic.

An example, perhaps:

"Time weighs down on you like an old, ambiguous dream. You keep on moving, trying to slip through it. But even if you go to the ends of the earth, you won't be able to escape it. Still, you have to go there--to the edge of the world. There's something you can't do unless you get there." (H.Murakami, Kafka on the Shore)

Juxtapoz magazine ran a fascinating article on her work months ago. She is really quite brilliant.

It is the 7 of April 2010.

I have not written in a thousand years.
I have collected things: a needlepoint piece about a light-bulb-popping-monster that I have yet to hang. A new plant. Drawings from Little Otsu.
I have been photographing...finally. A few rolls of 120. One of which I accidentally shot without realizing it was positive film...I hoping for something great to come of this.
I have been missing the east coast: mainly for the days of sun and warmth when it rains here, and for the sleepy mornings, late nights, and good food with my parents.
I have been re-arranging things: or at least, attempting to--rather, wanting to, planning to.

Coldest Winter is Summer in San Francisco

There is no description more apt than Mark Twain's observation that "the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco". After a year here, I have yet to adjust to the weather patterns that are so unique to this city. I have not been too productive, mainly sketch-booking"...and here are some of the results of those meanderings...

Given that I haven't posted since July of 2008, it is rather necessary to update this page. I have since moved to San Francisco in August and have been working at a small women's clothing boutique in the Upper Haight. Art-making has seriously been dismal. Sketchbook drawings have been the most I have done. I finally loaded up film in my Diana and took a few rolls of film while vising San Luis Obispo in central California. I am looking forward to developing the film and thus scanning/posting the images. I will be posting images from my sketchbook that will hopefully turn into larger scale projects.

I haven't been reading as much as I would like. Or drawing. Or writing. Things have sort of stalled in some respects--I almost miss eight hour critiques from Senior Thesis!

The Bands: Europe 2007

While in Paris, I became the official photographer for a few bands. The first, a very talented, smart, stylish, and innovative group from Paris, Cosmic Charlie has a future that will extend way outside of their hometown. I also became the primary photographer for the French band, proXima. Not only did the lead singer, Jee Wy, form and closely manage the band, but also created his own recording company called Alcatraz. Their page can be viewed on
